What Services may be Provided?
Independent living services are individually designed to meet the needs of Navajo people with significant disabilities with the intent that the individual live more independently in their home, community or environment.
Independent living services are individually designed and based on the persons’ strengths, interest and needs. The following are examples of independent living services that can be provided based on an individual needs.
- Information and Referral
- Counseling and guidance services
- Advocacy
- Peer Counseling
- Assistive Technology devices and equipment
- Native Healing Services (Restoration)
- Independent Living Skills Training
- Rehabilitation Technology services, such as ramp and minor housing modification
- Assistance in identifying accessible housing services, accessible transportation and other support services
- Mobility skills training for persons who are blind or visually impaired
